Gandhi Maidan the Heart of Patna

Gandhi Maidan is the Historic place and the Heart of the town world. It is located in the capital city of Patna on the banks of the river Ganga and Golghar falls to its west. During the period of 1824 - 1833, under British rule, it was used as a golf course & horse racing track &was called Patna Lawn. It is spread across 60 acres of land.

Several political movements were launched in Gandhi Maidan, earlier known as Patna Lawn before and after the Independence, the grounds house the tallest bronze statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the world. It is 70 feet tall and it's the big attraction of the city. The 70 feet tall bronze statue of Mahatma Gandhi lies in the southwestern corner of the ground.

During its heyday, distinguished state patriarchs namely Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajendra Prasad, Indra Gandhi and many more made their powerful voice heard in these Lawns. Even today, it acts as a hub for political rallies and other major events.

Now, Gandhi Maidan is for whom: those who are Nature Lovers, Photographers, History enthusiasts and for morning jogger for locals. Here you don't have limited time to stay and you can enter free of cost  and it open for all time ( whole year). 
It also has one of the eleven Gandhi Sangrahala (Gandhi museums) in the northwest corner. Several exhibitions and fairs are also held here the most famous of them being the fortnight-long Bookfair. A spot of choice for morning and evening joggers is best visited during this time. It is open to all.
